Samuel “Bob” R. Heffner

Samuel “Bob” R. Heffner, age 89, of Mechanicsburg, died at West Shore Hospital on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.  Bob was born on Tuesday, April 5, 1927, in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Samuel M. Heffner and Bonnie E. (LeVan) Heffner.

Bob’s survivors include his loving wife of almost 65 years, Patricia “Pat” Ann (Bowers) Heffner; his two children: Marc Heffner and his wife, Laurie, of Olympia, WA, Nancy Carpenter and her husband, John, of Bonner Springs, KS; his four grandchildren: Tyler Heffner, Wayne Heffner, Jason Heffner, Erin Carpenter; and his one great-grandchild, Myles Heffner.

M r. Heffner touched the lives of many as a longtime biology teacher at Mechanicsburg High School.  In addition to being an excellent teacher, Bob was always a wonderful, devoted husband never giving Pat any reason to complain.  Golfing, camping, and working in the yard were just some of the activities he shared with his family.  In retirement, Bob and Pat enjoyed hearing tales from their kids and grandkids, munching burnt bagels, watching the ponies run, sharing their garden harvests with neighbors, having a cool one down at "the Longbranch," and so much more.  He will be missed by all those who love him.

All are welcome to join Bob’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Monday, June 13, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.  Bob’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at West Main Family Restaurant, 710 West Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the burial.
