Sandra Mae Boyle, age 76, of Shippensburg, PA, and who spent most of her life in the Norfolk, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, and Guntersville Lake, AL, areas, died at Shippensburg Health Care Center on Thursday, November 2, 2017. Sandra was born on Wednesday, January 1, 1941 in San Diego, CA, to the late Thomas Boyle and Lois Mae (Steimke) Clark. In addition to her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Boyle.
Sandra’s survivors include her three children: Kimberly L. Turner of Mechanicsburg, PA, Richard Turner of Norfolk, VA, Nicole Marie Turner of Brooklyn, NY; her half-sister, Kathleen Boyle Tuozzolo of Glen Ridge, NJ; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Boyle of Huntsville, AL; and her three nephews: Wayne Boyle, Jr., Chris Boyle, and Jamie Boyle.
Sandra graduated from Norview High School and Old Dominion University. She enjoyed being on and near the water so much that she made it a point to live near both Guntersville Lake and the Chesapeake Bay. Sandra joyfully toiled in her flower gardens and strove for them to be as naturally beautiful as possible. In fact, when she saw beautiful plants along the road she would often stop to dig them out and transplant them into her garden along the paths she created. As with her gardens, Sandra was meticulous about her appearance and always looked her best. Reading was a special indulgence for Sandra and she could often be found curled up with a good book. When she was not gardening family gatherings at anytime during the year and especially at the holidays provided Sandra with tremendous joy. She loved getting together with her family. While she did not travel often she cherished her trip to Hawaii and her trip to Italy both with family by her side. These were some of the happiest times in her life.
Sandra’s family will be remembering her life privately. Scattering will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
