Sandra “Sandy” Kathleen (Wirt) Quinlan, age 85, of Mechanicsburg, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Sandy was born on Sunday, March 19, 1939, in Juniata County to the late Bernal Elmer Wirt and Ruth E. (Benner) Wirt. Sandy was the widow of Raymond H. Quinlan who died on January 10, 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, Sandy is preceded in death by her daughter: Michelle “Susie” Salmon, and her sister: Linda McNertney.
Sandy’s survivors include her three children: Jeffrey “Jeff” Quinlan and wife, Sarah of Iowa City, IA, Kimberly Laurer and husband, Scott of Vienna, VA, Keith Quinlan of Camp Hill; her nine grandchildren: Joseph Quinlan, Hannah Quinlan, Lily Quinlan, Luke Quinlan, Amanda Salmon, Cory Salmon, Jeremy Salmon, Ada Laurer, Ethan Laurer; her two sisters: Carolyn Gearhart of Mechanicsburg and Jackie Scott of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Sandy graduated from Juniata Joint High School as part of the class of 1956. She was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church for more than 50 years. Sandy served her community for many years as president of elections for her precinct in Upper Allen Township. She was an avid card enthusiast with a penchant for Pinochle. Sandy also found joy in reading, puzzles, and gardening. She occasionally enjoyed dining out with her friends and sisters. Sandy’s utmost pleasure came from spending time with family. She will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have been in her life.
All are welcome to join Sandy’s family at her Memorial Service on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, 117 W. Keller Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 with Reverend Marleen Elaine Griffith-Stull officiating. Sandy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship immediately following the service.
