Sandra “Sandi” Ruth Lloyd, age 63, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Ewing, NJ died at West Shore Hospital on Thursday, December 24, 2015. Sandi was born on Sunday, November 30, 1952 in Trenton, NJ to Alice Jean (Hinton) Lloyd and the late Griffith Henry Lloyd, who passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015.
Sandi’s survivors include her loving mother, Alice Lloyd, of Burlington, NJ, (who passed away and was reunited with her husband and daughter on February 5, 2016); her one sister, Janet Lloyd Garay and her husband, Donald, of Ewing, NJ; her two nephews: Daniel Garay and his wife, Melinda, of Ewing, NJ, Timothy Garay and his wife, Rachel, of Philadelphia; her one great-niece, Kalani Garay of Ewing, NJ; her special friends: Susan Blass, and her husband, Dale, of Carlisle, PA, Ann Marie Miller of Carlisle, and Peter Bord of Mechanicsburg; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sandi graduated from Ewing High School and from Millersville University with a degree in education. She retired from teaching at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg in 2011. Sandi was a member of Young’s United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where she served as a lay leader, Bible school director, and church treasurer. She was also a member of the Victory Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Sandi loved to travel and some of her favorite trips were to Rome; Greece; Krakow, Poland; Prague; and Watkins Glen, NY. She was fond of cats and loved reading, but Sandi’s passion was live theatre. She directed the middle school plays and musicals at Cumberland Valley for 15 years and served as a judge for the Governor’s School for the Arts. Sandi touched many lives throughout her career and she will be missed by her colleagues and students.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Young’s United Methodist Church, 7075 Wertzville Rd., Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Cremation was private.
