Sara “Sally” Elizabeth Stanton, 71, of Mechanicsburg , died on Thursday, July 25, 2013. She was born in Rochester, NY, on Sunday, May 31, 1942, daughter of Elizabeth (Kurtz) Stanton of Ithaca, NY and the late Julius Stanton.
Sally’s survivors include her loving son, Stephen F. Stanton and his wife Andrea of Deansboro, NY; her loving grandchildren, Connor, Rylan and Stephen Stanton; her loving mother, Elizabeth; her brother, John D. Stanton and his wife Joy of FL; her sister, Janet Stanton of AZ; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Sally in death is her grandson, Noah Stanton and her longtime beloved dog, Autumn.
Sally graduated from Brighton High School in Rochester as part of the class of 1960 and from the University of Rochester in 1964. She retired from Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg, after 30 years of service working in the FMSO Division. Sally was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg. She loved to play tennis and golf and enjoyed watching both sports on television. Sally also bowled in area leagues for a number of years. She liked to garden, bird watch, and especially spend time in the creek behind her home. Sally was known to sing very loud and proud, both at home and in church.
All are welcome to join Sally’s family at her visitation on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 2:00 until time of service at 3:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Michael V. Minnix officiating. Cremation and interment will be private and at the family’s convenience.
The family suggests memorial contributions to First United Methodist Church, 135 West Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
