Serafina L. Kinnare of St. Augustine, Florida formerly of Madison and Hamden passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012 after a tragic motor vehicle accident. She is the beloved wife of William Patrick Kinnare originally of Madison and loving mother of her seven children, Padraig Jameson, Filomena Alexandria, Isabella Mairead, Lucia Giana Fatima, Anastasia Serafina, Ambrose Augustine & Fulton Michael.

Serafina is the dearest granddaughter of Serafina DeMusis of Hamden and great granddaughter of Frank & Filomena Pepe of New Haven of whose legacy she was so proud. Serafina is survived by her Aunts, Bernadette Bimonte-Hackett, Genevieve Bimonte, and Uncle Gary J. Bimonte. Serafina is the treasured aunt of Sophia Claire Bimonte & Michaela Troy and cousin to William Cody Hayes. Serafina is the revered daughter in law of William & Barbara Kinnare of Madison and the dear sister in law to Mairead Kinnare of Madison, Maura Kinnare Maksel and James Maksel of Pennsylvania.
In addition, a large extended family is devastated by the loss of such a bright soul. Serafina was a light in the darkness. She saw only the face of Christ in those the Lord placed in her path, seeking only to serve and support any and all. Serfina was in deep union with God at all times, her life of Faith and devotion to the Church of Rome not only permeated her person it emanated out, seeping into the lives of all those touched by her compassion and prayer. She was filled with courage, teaching her children to pray always and everywhere instilling in them the need to work tirelessly at bringing Christ to the world. Charity flowed unceasingly, the words “no or I can’t do it” rarely came forth from her lips. Her place in Heaven is quite high and through her intercession we are able to persevere. A great teacher once said if all the writings of the New Testament were lost, they could be rewritten by witnessing the life of one Christian. In regard to Sera this could be done.
Serafina grew up in Hamden and Madison. She graduated from Daniel Hand High School in 1995. Throughout her life she was an avid softball player, and runner and budding golfer. She brought that love of sport into her family encouraging her children to enjoy the same activities. She is best known as a tender loving Mother giving all she had at any hour day or night. She is known to them as a nurse, cook, playmate, fixer, teacher and friend.
Her family extends their extreme gratitude to all those who have come with support and consolation in these grief stricken days. The out pouring of love and generosity proves she is still working on our behalf. At this time we stand in solidarity with Our Lady at the foot of the Cross.
