Shirley Louise (Fetter) Grammer, age 90, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, was lovingly called home to the Lord on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Shirley was born on Sunday, January 20, 1935, in Schuylkill Haven to the late James Fetter and Mae (Harner) Fetter. Shirley was the widow of Thomas “Tom” Warren Grammer—the love of her life—whom she married on July 18, 1959, and who passed away on July 9, 2014. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her five siblings: Robert Fetter, John Fetter, Joyce Ferrier, Jane Marx, and Joan Carpenter.
Shirley’s survivors include her three children: Kathy Sundy of Mechanicsburg, Susan Dever (husband Michael), of Hatboro, Tom Grammer (husband Bill Adair), of Philadelphia; her seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Dever (wife Katie), Allison Dever (fiancé Pran), Elizabeth Dever, Dylan Sundy, Samantha Sundy, Hunter Sundy (wife Kaleigh), Shannon Sundy; her great-grandchildren: Vergil Dever, another great-grandchild due to arrive next month; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley graduated from Womelsdorf High School as part of the class of 1953. She was the family matriarch who played a vital role in holding the family together. Her hobbies included gardening and weekend shopping trips to Boscov’s and Starbucks. Shirley was a devoted fan of Penn State Football and the Philadelphia Eagles. As she celebrated her 90th birthday on January 20, 2025, Shirley wished for the Philadelphia Eagles to win the Super Bowl. Her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply, were among her most treasured accomplishments. A feisty spirit, Shirley’s legacy will continue to burn in all of those who were fortunate to have been in her beloved life.
