Shirley G. (Walker) Fike

A Family Oriented and Strong Willed Woman -

Shirley G. (Walker) Fike, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, was embraced by her family in Heaven as she peacefully passed with her loving family by her side on Monday, February 26, 2018.  Shirley was born on Wednesday, December 12, 1934 in Mechanicsburg to the late Roy E. Walker and Margaret Emma (Weber) Walker.  Shirley was the widow of Fred David Fike, Jr., who died on November 8, 1996.  In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her two daughters: Gwen E. Glasser and Linda K. Deckert.

Shirley’s survivors include her son, Fred W. Fike of Mechanicsburg; her four grandchildren: Fred, Jenny, Marc, and Calvin; her three great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Russ Deckert of Newville.

Shirley worked for Howard Johnson’s on the Pennsylvania Turnpike just outside of Mechanicsburg for 26 years.  She also worked in the accounting department for Book of the Month Club and in pharmacy support for Merck - Medco Rx Services.  Shirley enjoyed participating in all of the activities of The Sassy Ladies where she was a member and of The Red Hat Society, Inc. where she was a past member.  She liked to sew and loved to cross-stitch.  She especially loved to square dance with her husband, Fred.  Shirley loved to cruise and to camp and she enjoyed attending plays, movies, and musicals; all of which she often did with her family.  She enjoyed life and was the kind of person that would do anything for anyone.  Shirley treasured her family dearly and always made sure they knew how much she loved them.

All are welcome to join Shirley’s family at her viewing on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.  Burial will follow in Trindle Spring Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Fred Fike, Russ Deckert, Marc Thomas, and Chuck Brickner, Jr.
