Always Humble and Kind -

Shirley Louise (Thornton) Jones, age 76, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Monroe Township, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.  Shirley was born on Thursday, March 5, 1942 in Carlisle to Naomi (Thornton) Windmaker.  Shirley was the widow of William Robert Jones, whom she married on December 15, 1958, and who died on July 14, 1979.  In addition to her husband, Shirley is preceded in death by her son, Robert “Bob” Jones; and her grandson, Dillon Jones.

Shirley’s survivors include her four children: William “Bill” Jones of Mechanicsburg, PA, Carla Jones of Carlisle, PA, Lori Koons and her husband, Kevin, of Fort Worth, TX, Barry Jones and his wife, Sherri, of Halifax, PA; her eight grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; and her mother, Naomi Windmaker of Camp Hill, PA.

Shirley retired from Tyco, formerly AMP Incorporated, after over 20 years of service working as a product assembler.  She was a member of West Shore Evangelical Free Church in Mechanicsburg.  Shirley loved cats, particularly Siamese, and birds, which she enjoyed feeding and watching.  Her favorite birds were cardinals and she displayed that love by how she decorated her home.  She was humble, kind, considerate, thoughtful, and always put others first.  Shirley’s children and grandchildren were her life that brought her a tremendous amount of joy.

All are welcome to join Shirley’s family at her viewing on Monday, July 2, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Ken Thompson officiating.  Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Barry Jones, Dustin Jones, Jordan Jones, William Jones, Kevin Koons, and Garrett Shover.  Shirley’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church, 1050 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the burial.
