Shirley Mae Lauver

Quiet Spoken & Patient -

Shirley Mae Lauver, age 76, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and formerly of Connecticut, died at home in Bethany Village on Monday, November 21, 2016.  Shirley was born on April 23, 1940 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Clarence Weaver Lauver and Miriam (Musselman) Lauver.

Shirley’s survivors include her brother, Robert M. Lauver and his wife, Alicia, of Hawley, PA; her niece, Linda Wallace and her husband, Michael, and their son, Robert Leonard Wallace.

Shirley was a member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church where she greatly enjoyed singing in the choir.  A quiet spoken and patient person, Shirley loved the simple things like her beloved cats, music, and reading.  She retired, after a life-long career, from the State of Connecticut as a social worker.  Shirley was devoted to her calling as a social worker and always put great effort into helping those who needed a helping hand and a loving heart.  When those she helped found a better way to live and when their lives improved, Shirley’s heart swelled with satisfaction and joy.  Her impact in this life was profound and her spirit will surely live on in those who were lucky enough to have known her.

All are welcome to join Shirley’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Kathryn Z.
