Shirley Alice (Cope) Meloy, 83, of Dillsburg , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at Elmcroft of Dillsburg on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. She was born in Harrisburg, on Tuesday, March 4, 1930, daughter of the late Daniel Cope and Ella Groft Cope. Shirley was the widow of Delbert Ross Meloy.
Shirley’s survivors include her loving children, John E. Cope and his wife Cheryl of Mechanicsburg, Patti Rowe and her husband Tom of New Cumberland, Greg Meloy and his wife Cathy of York Springs, Mark Meloy of Williamstown; seven grandchildren, Shawn Cope, Stacy Cope Baldwin, Stephanie Cope Myers, Ryan Rowe, Christopher Rowe, Justin Meloy and Riley Meloy; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Gavin, Carter, Caden and Connor; a brother Samuel Cope of Harrisburg, a sister, Ruth Motz and her husband Bob of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley graduated from Landisburg High School as part of the class of 1948. She worked for many years at Book of the Month in Mechanicsburg. Shirley loved and adored her family. Shirley was very proud of being raised in Tressler Lutheran Home for Children and would tell everybody she met all about her time there.
Cremation and services will be private. Burial in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens , in Carlisle, will be held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions to Diacon Lutheran Social Ministries , 960 Century Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
