Shirley Ann (Calhoun) Valetske, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, died with her husband by her side on Sunday, June 23, 2019, after a long battle with cancer.  Shirley was born on Friday, February 22, 1935 in Harrisburg to the late John Charles Calhoun, Sr. and Mildred Mary (Blessing) Calhoun.  In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her son, Raymond “Ray” George Heverling, Jr.; and her two brothers: John Charles Calhoun, Jr. and Larry Calhoun.

Shirley’s survivors include her husband of 19 years, Charles “Charlie” Joseph Valetske, Jr. of Mechanicsburg; her son, Michael Heverling and his fiancée, Karen Blahusch, of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in Harrisburg, after more than 35 years of service working as a secretary.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg.  Shirley loved animals, music, the beauty of nature, going to casinos and traveling.  She will be greatly missed by her very loving and beautiful family and her many, many loving friends.

All are welcome to join Shirley’s family at her viewing on Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Timothy J. Sahd officiating.  Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.  Shirley’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the Sunlight Diner, 4729 Gettysburg Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the burial.
