Shirley Ann Wilkie (Neubauer), age 89, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away on November 30, 2024. She was born August 2, 1935, the daughter of Carl and Velma (Watson) Neubauer.
She was a graduate of Cranberry High School, class of 1953. She attended Clarion State University, Central Pennsylvania Business School, and achieved her associates degree at Harrisburg Area Community College. She was the best stay-at-home mom and later worked as an executive secretary after completing her associates degree. Shirley was a member of of Trinity Lutheran in Camp Hill, where she married her husband, Robert. She volunteered at the church in several ways, including altar care, visiting the elderly, and serving on the prayer chain. Shirley’s greatest love was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and good friends. She had many hobbies including gardening, reading, doing puzzles, playing the piano, singing, dancing with her husband, collecting (Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and items for her dollhouse), watching movies, and traveling. Shirley enjoyed shopping and always loved finding a good bargain. Shirley always excitedly participated in family games and laughed joyfully at our wild antics. Shirley had the greatest laugh, an incredible sense of humor, and the kindest heart. She was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and consistently showed up to support all of us.
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 41 years, Robert Wayne Wilkie, her siblings and their spouses: Richard (Carol) Neubauer, Marilyn (Roy) Lash, her children and their spouses: Jeffrey (Amy Roeder) Graham, Janet (Robert) Wysong, Suzy (Steve) Walker, Jill (Donovan) Murray, Kevin (Donna) Wilkie, and Jim Wilkie, her grandchildren: Stephanie Walker, Jennifer (Justin Jones) Walker, Christina Walker, Rachel (Colby) Hill, Michael (AnnaBeth Crittenden) Wysong, Ian (Lauren) Graham, Arianna (Tyler Howard) Graham, Matt Roeder, Bradley (Kayce) Wilkie, Heather (George Fowler) Wilkie, and Isabelle Wilkie, her great-grandchildren: Mila, Evelyn, Mavis, Eloise, Asher, and Orion, her grand-puppy: Cookie, and many additional extended family members, friends that turned into family, and wonderful neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Velma Neubauer, and her first husband, William P. Graham.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Burhig Funeral Home: 37 E. Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Viewing/visitation will be held from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Funeral service will begin at 12:30pm. Graveside service to follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery: 320 S. Frederick Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
