Spurgeon “Spurg” Kenneth Darbrow

Never Knew a Stranger -

Spurgeon “Spurg” Kenneth Darbrow, age 74, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Saturday, June 10, 2017.  Spurg was born on Tuesday, September 1, 1942 in Mechanicsburg to the late Alfred John Darbrow, Sr. and Lily Jeanette (Richcreek) Darbrow.  In addition to his parents, Spurg is preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Kramer.

Spurg’s survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patsy “Pat” May (Gochenaur) Darbrow; his three daughters: Priscilla Burnham and her husband, David, of Annville, PA, Kathy Musser and her husband, Scott, of Trevorton, PA; Dorothy “Dottie” Brindle and her husband, Barton, of Woodlawn, TN; his 14 grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his three siblings: Alfred Darbrow, Jr. and his wife, Connie, of Dillsburg, PA, Blanche Michael and her husband, Mark, of Lewisberry, PA, Verna Wright of Mechanicsburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Spurg had several occupations where he worked as a mechanic and in the construction industry.  He was a long-time member of the Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association in Dillsburg.  Spurg enjoyed attending functions at Young’s United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg with his wife, Pat. The two could often be found hip-to-hip at Randy Simpson concerts.  Spurg loved hunting, fishing, camping, and spending quality time with his family.  He never knew a stranger and made friends everywhere he went, whether it was at breakfast or the grocery store.

All are welcome to join Spurg’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Friday, June 16, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Young’s United Methodist Church, 7075 Wertzville Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Pastor Robert V. Bishard, Jr. officiating.  Spurg’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the service.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to Homeland Hospice and everyone at Holy Spirit Hospital who so lovingly cared for Spurg during his illness.
