Stanley “Pop” Bingham

Stanley “Pop” Bingham, 88, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of Florida and Pottstown , died at Select Specialty Hospital on Saturday, November 17, 2012. He was born in Everett, on Tuesday, August 5, 1924, son of the late Samuel Bingham and Sarah (Fetters) Bingham. Stanley was the widower of Joyce “Big Nanny” Rae (Dettra) Bingham whom he married on November 7, 1947, and who died on October 25, 2002.
Pop was a proud Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of the Mechanicsburg Area , Rolling Thunder Chapter 7 , Mechanicsburg VFW and the American Legion . He was fiercely proud to attend the military graduations of his family. Pop retired from the Dana Corporation in Reading and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police in Florida. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved his “truck”, a Chevy Avalanche. Pop greatly enjoyed sitting on motorcycles with his wife and he was devoted to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Stanley’s survivors include his four loving daughters, Dale Lepore and her husband John of Mechanicsburg, Judith Johnson of Georgia, Debra Norris and her husband Donald of Pottstown, Jacqulyn Bliss and her husband Bruce of New Jersey; his brother, Samuel Bingham of Somerset; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Among those preceding Stanley in death are his brother, Paul Bingham; and his foster father, Harry Cornell.
All are welcome to join Pop’s family at his viewing on Saturday, November 24, 2012, from 2:00 until time of service at 3:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Chaplain Nancy Kreiner officiating. Pop’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Mechanicsburg Memorial VFW Post #6704 , 4907 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, immediately following the service. Burial will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 3:00 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery , Annville, where military honors will be presented by the VFW State Color Guard - Minutemen .
