Flying High -

Stephen “Steve” Robert Zentmeyer, age 73, of St. Petersburg, FL, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home and surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 29, 2021.  Steve was born on Tuesday, September 21, 1948, in Mechanicsburg to Claribel (Stone) Latsha and the late Harry Robert Zentmeyer.

Steve’s survivors include his wife of 52 years, Deborah “Debbie” Jayne (Deckman) Zentmeyer; his two children: Marc Stephen Zentmeyer of Tampa, FL, and Kara Jayne (Zentmeyer) Saggiomo, and husband, Anthony “Tony”, of Mt. Laurel, NJ; his five grandchildren: Noah Zentmeyer, Nicholas Zentmeyer, Caroline Saggiomo, Gia Saggiomo, and Andrew Saggiomo; his four siblings: Kurt Zentmeyer, Brock Zentmeyer, Lance Zentmeyer, and Saundra “Sandy” Roldan; and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was a 1966 graduate of Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, attended Harrisburg Area Community College, and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1970.  After college, Steve went into the paper business.  He started his career at Maple Press in York, PA, but his entrepreneurial yearning led him to start his own companies, Stejan Printing, and subsequently Graphic Specialties in the late 70’s and early 80’s.  Steve’s early successes were parlayed into the Plant Superintendent at Appleton Papers in the mid 80’s and later ran the International business for Horizon Papers based out of New York City.  Always an entrepreneur, he concluded his career by starting another company, Zepac, in the late 90’s.  In his down time, Steve had a special passion for golfing, especially with his best friends, and held his private flying license.  He loved watching Penn State football on Saturdays, and the Philadelphia Eagles on Sundays.  In addition, Steve also enjoyed boating with friends and family, never missed a good party, and was known by many as “The Captain”.  He loved his 1960 Corvette and enjoyed riding his Triumph motorcycles, but above all else, Steve loved his family, and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.

All are welcome to join Steve’s family at his in-person viewing on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of his virtual gathering and virtual viewing via video chat or telephone beginning at 1:00 p.m. and his service which will begin at 1:15 p.m. all at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with the Reverend Dr. Charles H. Hostetter officiating.  A graveside service and burial will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill immediately following the service.  Steve’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the Caddy Shack, 800 Orrs Bridge Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, immediately following the burial.
