Steven “Steve” Michael Thumma
Loving Father, Son, & Brother -
Steven “Steve” Michael Thumma, age 59, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Steve was born on Monday, July 30, 1962, in Carlisle to Betty Jane (Oyler) Thumma and the late Charles Samuel Thumma.
Steve’s survivors include his two children: Michael “Mike” Erron Thumma of Mechanicsburg, Amber Nicole Thumma of Mechanicsburg; his mother, Betty Thumma of Mt. Holly Springs; his brother, Marc Thumma of Enola; his sister, Dawn Warner and husband, Gary, of Newville; and several nieces and nephews.
Steve graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1980 and from Penn State University in 1985. He worked in sales for Colt Plumbing in Mechancisburg, Johns Manville Roofing in New Jersey, Olympic Fasteners of Agawam, MA, and DriveKore of Mechanicsburg. Steve enjoyed going deer hunting, fishing, and playing softball for the Carlisle Recreation League and Sunday Hampden League. He was also an avid fan of Penn State, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Phillies. He served as a trainer and equipment manager for the Mechanicsburg Midget Football Association. Steve also coached many of Amber and Mike’s sports teams. This included softball for Amber, baseball for Mike, and soccer for both the kids. Steve never gave up; he was known for his fight and resilience in battling his health issues.
All are welcome to join Steve’s family on Saturday, October 9, 2021, for his in-person gathering of family and friends from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and, via internet, for his virtual gathering from 4:30 p.m. until time of service at 5:15 p.m. with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Interment in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. At the request of the family, everyone must be properly masked and remain so at all times. Cremation was private.
