Susan “Brat” Kay (Starner) Herman

Loved Her Sisters -

Susan “Brat” Kay (Starner) Herman, 59, of Enola and formerly of Mechanicsburg died Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at her home and surrounded by her loving family after her battle with cancer.  She was born on Wednesday, February 13, 1952 in Harrisburg the daughter of the late Richard and Edna Mae (McCallister) Starner.  Susan was the widow of Larry R. Herman who she married on April 10, 1971 and who died on December 9, 2010.

Susan graduated from Cedar Cliff High School and was a long-time technician at the Birth Place in Holy Spirit Hospital.  She worked until her cancer prevented her from working any longer.  Susan loved the beach and enjoyed the time she spent at her house in Gulls Way, Delaware.  She was very close to her sisters and spent many wonderful hours playing cards, playing bingo and exploring the casino with them.  More than anything, Susan enjoyed the precious time she spent with her grandchildren making them laugh as they played for hours.

Susan’s survivors include her loving children and grandchildren: Glen Herman and his sons Shawn and Charles of Mechanicsburg; Stacey Edwards and her daughters Ashley, Lexi and Kayla of New Bloomfield; Jennifer Adams and her husband William and their son Brayden of Shippensburg; her brother: Carl Starner of Blaine; her two sisters: Barbara Duncan of Mechanicsburg; Carol Hartman of Wellsville; and several nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Susan in death are two sisters: Louella Reynolds and Myra Sphar.

All are welcome to join Susan’s family at her viewing on Monday, November 28, 2011, from 11:00 until time of service at 1:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, (717) 766-3421, www.Myers-Buhrig.com with Pastor Alan Echard officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.
