Susanne “Sue” Kay (Rechel) Sather
Loved Family and Golfing -
Susanne “Sue” Kay (Rechel) Sather, age 73, of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with her mother and father in heaven on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. Sue was born on Thursday, June 19, 1947, in Mechanicsburg to the late Kurwin Eugene Rechel and Kathryn Louise (Coleman) Rechel.
Sue’s survivors include her son, Mark Sather and wife Nilda of Mechanicsburg; her two grandchildren: Christina Sather and Nicholas Sather; her brother, Robert “Bob” Rechel and wife Vicki of Dillsburg and their son Kyle; her special stepson, Kevin Sather; her several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, the Vergara family; and her beloved Pekingese, Bogey.
Sue graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1965. She was a member of the Class of 1965 Wild Gals luncheon group. Sue retired as a paralegal from the law firm of Reager & Adler in Camp Hill in 2013. She belonged to St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg. Sue was an avid and very good golfer who belonged to several leagues, including LPGA Amateur Golf Association. She continued to play until she became ill in December. In her free time at home, Sue was a voracious reader and enjoyed working on puzzles and crossword puzzles. She played pinochle at The Bridges at Bent Creek and the YMCA; and enjoyed playing poker, Bingo on Thursday nights at the Mechanicsburg Club, and trying her luck at the casino. She also enjoyed traveling. Sue loved family gatherings and supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events. She was devoted to her dog, Bogey, and he and her family will miss Sue dearly.
All are welcome to join Sue’s family for her in-person gathering of family and friends and service at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; or her virtual gathering and service via video chat or telephone on Saturday, January 9, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m.; with Reverend Marleen Elaine Griffith-Stull officiating. Everyone is invited to Sue’s graveside service and burial in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, immediately following.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the men and women on the third floor at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital who were kind, compassionate, and understanding while caring for Sue during her illness. Sue’s son, Mark, believes “there needs to be more people like them in this world”.
