Sylvia Alyse (Rackner) Naiditch
Sylvia Alyse (Rackner) Naiditch, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and formerly of Minneapolis, MN, passed away at her home and with her loving husband by her side on Monday, January 15, 2018. Sylvia was born on Sunday, November 25, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Morris Rackner and Freida (Ritt) Rackner. In addition to her parents, Sylvia is preceded in death by her two brothers, Sherman and Alvin, and her infant sister.
Sylvia leaves behind Sanford, her husband of 64 years; a son, Ira Naiditch (Sue); a daughter Linda Naiditch (Andre Barnett); four grandchildren Sarah Darhower (Tommy), Leah Townsend (Tara), Aaron Naiditch (Elise) and Dorian. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Emily and Madison Darhower, Camden Naiditch and Greyson Townsend.
She was a 1952 graduate of North High School, in Minneapolis. Sylvia was active in League of Women Voters and remained interested in politics her entire life. She was also active in the local PTA throughout her children's school years. A Life Master in Duplicate Bridge, she enjoy teaching the game as much as she enjoyed playing.
Sylvia's real passions were her family and her dogs. She loved traveling with loving husband, Sanford, and she loved passing on that love of travel to her children and grandchildren, going to such places as China, Israel, New Zealand, Tanzania, Congo, Kenya, most of Western Europe, and throughout the United States. She and Sanford retired to FL after years in Minneapolis, MN, Akron, OH and later Chicago, IL.
Upon moving to Mechanicsburg, to be closer to her family, she became a Therapy Dog Handler with her, and her husbands, new puppy, a Cavalier King Charles, Kylie. Together they visited Nursing Homes throughout the Mid-State area every Tuesday.
All are welcome to join Sylvia’s family at her service on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Israel, 2324 Emerson Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55405. Burial will follow in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
In lieu of any gifts or flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Central PA (HCP), 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
