Tammy “GiGi” Louise (Turner) Magaro
A Kind and Giving Person -
Tammy “Gigi” Louise (Turner) Magaro, age 62, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. Tammy was born on Thursday, November 5, 1959, in Camp Hill to the late Jesse David Turner and Dorothy Mae (Clelan) Turner. In addition to her parents, Tammy is preceded in death by her four brothers: Edward Armstrong, Barry Armstrong, George Armstrong, Jesse Turner; her two sisters: Frances Peebles and Helen “Cookie” Metallo; and her beloved canine companion, Yogi.
Tammy’s survivors include her husband, Frank Albert Magaro, III; her two children: Frank Antonio “Tony” Magaro of Camp Hill; Desiree “Desi” Rose Magaro and her husband, Cameron Pierce, of Mechanicsburg; her three grandchildren: Alani, Brynn and Jameson Pierce; her sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Erickson and her husband, Rodney, of Mechanicsburg; her brother, Steven “Steve” Turner of Mechanicsburg; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved feline companions, Rosie and Mop.
Tammy graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1978. She was employed as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in Harrisburg and Tom James Company in Camp Hill. She also served as a waitress for the American Legion Post 26 in Dillsburg and several other restaurants in the area. Tammy was a member of the American Legion Post 26 Auxiliary in Dillsburg and the West Shore Elks Club in Camp Hill. Animals were drawn to Tammy because of her loving and kind spirit. She also had a green thumb and would take great care in tending to her plants. Tammy loved to travel; and one of her favorite places was the beach. She and Frank made many trips to Florida and Myrtle Beach with their children and grandchildren during the winter months. In the summer, you could find her lounging by the pool. She also loved to go on cruises to exotic places. Those that know Tammy, knew that she never found a beach or a Tiki bar that she didn’t like. Tammy was selfless and giving and was always willing to help. She made friends very easily and welcomed them with open arms. Tammy’s family and friends will miss her greatly.
