Thelma M. Brydia
Devoted Daughter & Caregiver
Thelma Lou Morgan Brydia, who was 91 years young and a long time resident of Paxtang, stepped forward to go home to the Lord on Saturday, July 2, 2011. She was born on Thursday, January 29, 1920 in Wilkes-Barre the daughter of the late Idris and Lillian Mae (Hirthler) Morgan. Thelma’s father came over from Wales at an early age and the family settled in the Pennsylvania Coal Region.
Thelma graduated from GAR Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre as part of the class of 1938. After graduation, Thelma took business courses and moved to Harrisburg where she worked as a secretary at the New Cumberland Army Depot. She married Reverend Ellis Brydia, a Methodist minister, who was from York. She was a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years and more recently she was a member of Charlton United Methodist Church.
Thelma was a devoted daughter, caring for her parents and being their only caregiver from the time they entered their twilight years until their deaths.
Thelma is survived by two nieces: Beverly Lynch and her husband Richard, Cynthia Harris and her children Morgan & Matthew; two great nieces: Brenda Gacki and her husband Thomas and their children Grace & Zachary, Marsha Lynch; two step-sons: William and Laurence Brydia and their families; two grandsons; three granddaughters and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Reverend Ellis Brydia and her brother: Robert E. Morgan.
All are welcome to join Thelma’s family at her Graveside Viewing from 1:30 until time of Graveside Service at 2:00 on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill with Reverend Suanne Whorl officiating.
