Theodore “Ted” Francis Wood

Cherished His Family -

Theodore “Ted” Francis Wood, age 72, of Dillsburg, and formerly of Wellsville, passed away at home and surrounded by loving family on Friday, December 18, 2020.  Ted was born on Monday, September 6, 1948, in Lancaster to the late Francis Wood and Catherine (Baker) Wood.  In addition to his parents, Ted is preceded in death by his two brothers: Francis Wood and George McNally.

Ted’s survivors include his wife of 50 years, Susan “Sue” Joyce (Miller) Wood; his three children: Erica Catherine Weller and husband, Dwayne, of Wellsville, Theodore “Ted” Stanley Wood of York, Nicholas “Nick” James Wood and wife, Crystal, of York; his six grandchildren; precious great-grandchild; his sister: Faith Marie Hart and husband, Thomas, of Iowa; his sister-in-law: Delores McNally of York; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine: Sarge.

Ted graduated from McCaskey High School as part of the class of 1966 and soon after proudly served his country for 17 years, in the United States Army.  He was a longtime member of the Vietnam Veterans Club of Mechanicsburg and enjoyed gathering with others that served during the Vietnam War. Ted was well known for his many pranks and his wonderful sense of humor.  He was an avid football fan and would use any excuse to watch a football game on television.  Ted cherished his family.  Spending time with his grandchildren at sporting events, band concerts and family events, filled him with great joy.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Ted’s family will be celebrating his life privately.  Interment with military honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Asera Care Hospice who so lovingly cared for Ted during his illness.
