Thomas Kelton Essig
Thomas Kelton Essig, age 85, of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away at ManorCare Health Services – Camp Hill on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Thomas was born on Wednesday, June 4, 1930 in Tipton, IN to the late Kelton Essig and Mary (Gifford) Coy. In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his former wife and friend, Lois Romaine Essig; and his one brother, Roger Coy.
Thomas’ survivors include his six children: Marcia Rock and her husband, Chris, of Greensboro, NC, Mark Essig of Richieville, PA, Morgan Essig and his wife, Lisa, of Mechanicsburg, Michael Essig of Mechanicsburg, Martin Essig and his wife, Sandee Bittner, of Dillsburg, PA, Marshall Essig of Colorado; his ten grandchildren: Matthew, Richard, Kelton, Anna, Andrew, Mason, Olivia, Makenna, Darian, Tia; his two sisters: Sueann Read and Jane Prather, both of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Thomas served in the United States Army from 1954-1957; earning a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal, and he worked for the United States Navy as an inspector.
Thomas’ family will be remembering his life privately. To honor Thomas’ commitment to health and education, his body has been donated to Pennsylvania Humanity Gifts Registry.
