Lieutenant Colonel Thomas “Tom” Throne, Sr., age 95, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away with his loving wife by his side on Monday, December 19, 2016.  Tom was born on Sunday, May 22, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA.

Tom’s survivors include his wife of 43 years, Adele Maria (Wallacher) Throne; his two children: Diana T. Reddig and her husband, Fred, of Carlisle, Tom Throne, Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Woodstock, GA; and his five grandchildren: Carson Throne, Charlie Throne, Ryan Throne, Allison Berry, Taylor Throne.

Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  He retired as a lieutenant colonel after a full military career.  Tom then worked as the department director of Goodfellow Army Reserve Center in St. Louis, MO.  Following his time in St. Louis, he worked as a Director at the New Cumberland Army Depot and later retired as a GS-15.

One of Tom’s deepest loves was his military service and he enjoyed sharing his stories with anyone who was interested in hearing them.  He had a wonderful memory and could share remembrances from his earliest days of his Army service. Tom was an avid reader and would sit and read all day and into the night.

All are welcome to join Tom’s family at his graveside service on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003, where military honors will be presented.
