Thomas “Tom” Pierre DeRoos
“Go big or go home” -
Thomas “Tom” Pierre DeRoos, age 49, of Mechanicsburg, went home to the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Tom was born on Tuesday, May 16, 1972, in Holland, MI to James “Barry” DeRoos and Lois Ann (Pulis) DeRoos. Tom is preceded in death by his beloved feline companion, Titan.
Tom’s survivors include his wife of seven years, Teressa Lynn (Reynolds) DeRoos; his four children, by both blood and marriage: Brooke Serina of Mechanicsburg; Ifigenia DeRoos of Millersville; Brady Serina of Mechanicsburg; Sophia DeRoos of Lancaster; his grandson, Kassius; his parents, James “Barry” DeRoos and Lois Ann (Pulis) Deroos of Mechanicsburg; his sister, Lisa (DeRoos) Wilson and husband, Richard “Rick”, of Mechanicsburg; his niece and nephews: Natalie Wilson, James “Josh” DeRoos and Calvin Wilson, all of Mechanicsburg; his beloved feline companions: Batman, Budman, Ollie and Pippa; and his many friends who he loved so much.
Tom graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1990, where he played on both the football and baseball teams. Most recently, Tom worked in sales at T.C. Backer Construction in Dover. An avid sports fan, Tom loved football and was a hard hitting player. He was passionate about weight lifting and power lifting; he also enjoyed baseball and was a great outfielder. Tom loved fishing and would do so for hours on end. He was extremely competitive and had a very “go big or go home” mentality; he always went BIG. Tom worked hard on the landscaping at his home and was very proud of his flower garden. Tom’s favorite foods were tacos and hot and sour soup.
Tom was a man who lived his life with all that he had to give. He loved to lend a hand to others, as well as raise funds for many organizations that were dear to him; his favorite being the Pennsylvania National Guard. Tom’s biggest regret was that he never enlisted in the military and he spoke of that often. His passion for lifting and life has positively impacted his children and countless others. People by the masses have shared stories of how Tom’s spirit touched and saved their lives. Along with his giving spirit, always siding with the under-dog and being a friend to any and every one, Tom will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
