Thomas “Tom” George Eurieck, age 64, of Harrisburg , and formerly of Binghamton, NY , died at Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence on Monday, December 8, 2014, after a long battle with cancer. Tom was born on Sunday, October 29, 1950 in Harrisburg to the late Fred Eurieck and Anita (Rubinic) Eurieck.
Tom’s survivors include h is siblings: Frederick Eurieck, Jr. and his wife, Cami, of New Hampshire, Elizabeth Stoy and her husband, Kenneth, of Alabama, Elaine Eurick of Maryland, Nicholas Eurick of Harrisburg, Annette Eurieck of Harrisburg; nieces and nephews: Emily Modonno and her husband, Matthew, Megan Eurieck, Stephen Eurieck, Dustan Eurieck, Nicole Chambers and her husband, Michael Bell, Christopher Chambers and his wife, Melissa, Adrienne Jenkins, Jennifer Spensley, Christopher Miller, Jonathan Miller and his partner, Rebecca Ann Shore. Tom is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, several friends from the dance community of Vestal NY, and special friends, Sharon Mendoza, Sharon and Donald Supko, and many more.
Tom graduated from Duquesne University , where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, with a Biology concentration. He received a full scholarship from Duquesne University Tamburitzans from 1971 to 1973, and was one out of eight accepted from over 650 applicants through an audition process that included singing, playing an instrument, (Tom played accordion), and Slavic dancing. Tom's passion became dancing, and he shared his passion as the owner of the Fun and Dance Studio in Vestal, NY. A beloved teacher and coach of ballroom dancing since 1974, Tom was delighted that his achievements brought many students to a winning placement in competitions. Tom, himself, received many honors and awards in the professional ballroom dance community.
All are welcome to join Tom’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 2:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Father Philip Burger officiating. Burial in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be private and at the family’s convenience.
