Thomas “Tom” Edward Kramer, age 67, of Carlisle , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at his farm and hunting camp in Bradford County on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Tom was born on Wednesday, March 31, 1948 in Mechanicsburg to the late George Kramer and Lillian (Snell) Kramer. In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his son, Scott Kramer.
Tom’s survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Shirl (Bodkin) Kramer; his daughter and her family: Sherry Davis and her husband, Christopher, and their two children, Alex and Molly, of Laughlintown, PA; his step-sons: Jeffrey Jumper and his wife, Nada, of Ellenton, FL, Jason Jumper of New Cumberland, PA; and his two brothers: James Kramer and his wife, Betsy, of York, PA, and David Kramer of Enola.
Tom graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1966. He served in the United States Navy as a Radarman Second Class on the USS Blandy, the USS Wilkinson, and the USS McCloy from 1966 to 1970. He retired from Tyco Electronics, Inc. in 2010 after 40 years of service working as a project model maker. Tom was a member of Good Shepherd Community United Methodist Church in Carlisle. He was a past president of AMP Nimrods , and a member of AMPRA and the Carlisle Fish & Game Association . Tom was a true outdoorsman and an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time at the Campanelli Hunting Lodge. He won many trophies in archery and bowling competitions. Some of Tom’s favorite places to spend time included Wyoming, the seashore, and Florida during the snowbird months. He loved his many cats over the years, especially Ozzie. Tom was a loving father and grandfather to his family.
All are welcome to join Tom’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating. A closing ceremony with full military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard . Tom’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at The Stage and Studio Café , next door to the funeral home, following the service.
