Loving & Beloved Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather -
Truman Bruce Peters, age 97, of Panama City Beach, FL , and formerly of Middletown , died at home on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Truman was born on Tuesday, September 4, 1917 in Middletown to the late Howard Peters and Emma (Hoffon) Peters. Truman was the widower of Elizabeth “Libby” Anna (Reed) Peters, whom he married on January 18, 1941, and who died on March 10, 1995. In addition to his parents and wife, Truman is preceded in death by his sisters: Anna Margaret Peters-Smith, Elsie Marie Peters-Lyons, and Nancy Jane Grundon.
Truman’s survivors include his daughter, Denise Bennett and her husband, Elmer Dale Bennett, of Panama City Beach, FL; his granddaughters: Wendy Tatanish, her husband, Jim, their sons, Jared and Cameron, of Panama City Beach, Cheryl Kuhl, and her daughter, Kayla, of Panama City Beach; his sister, Lois Jean Shupp, of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.
Truman graduated from Middletown High School as part of the class of 1933. He worked as a mechanic, a firefighter, a service station attendant; and eventually, Truman became a District Justice in Middletown, retiring in the early 1980s. He loved the outdoors, golfing, dining out, cooking, playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Truman liked to travel; and he visited all the states twice, except for Hawaii and Alaska. He took an Alaskan cruise with his family in the early 1990s, and moved to Panama City Beach in 2010 with his daughter, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. He was a loving and caring man to all, and anyone who knew Truman could never say a bad word about him. Truman was truly loved and will be missed for a long time.
All are welcome to join Truman’s family at his graveside service on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill; with Rev. Dr. David L. Reed officiating.
