Vera Louise (Stansfield) Whisler

Vera Louise (Stansfield) Whisler, 92, of Shiremanstown died at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Monday, April 9, 2012. She was born in Shiremanstown on Friday, October 31, 1919, daughter of the late William A. and Mary F. (Leisman) Stansfield. Vera was the widow of Clarence Leroy Whisler to whom she was married for 61 years.
Vera graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1937 and from Central Penn Business School in 1939. She was a bookkeeper for many years at West Shore Iron Works , working for her brother Herman who owned the business. Vera was also a previous tax collector for Shiremanstown and had been employed at the former Bell Telephone . She was a 50 year member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church .
Vera’s survivors include her loving son Edward Whisler and his wife Janice of Lewisberry; a granddaughter Laura Pal and her husband Rajinder of Fredericksburg, Va and their son Akash. Among those preceding Vera in death are four brothers: Albert, Herman, Harold and Charles Stansfield.
All are welcome to join Vera’s family at her viewing on Friday, April 13, 2012, from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, with Reverend Logan Garth Swanger officiating. Burial will immediately follow in East Harrisburg Cemetery , Harrisburg.
