Verna Jane (Eckert) Stoner

Verna Jane (Eckert) Stoner, age 89, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home on Friday, March 27, 2020.  Verna was born on Saturday, April 12, 1930, in Mechanicsburg, PA to the late Charles and Verna (Kitner) Eckert.  In addition to her parents, Verna is preceded in death by her daughter, Sally Stoner, of Mechanicsburg.

Verna’s survivors include her five children: Michael Stoner and wife Deborah of Mechanicsburg, Thomas Stoner of Carlisle, Cathy McQuait and husband Robert of Mechanicsburg, Cindy Hershey and husband Scott of Carlisle; her five grandchildren; and her nine great-grandchildren.

Verna always felt her mission in life was to be there for her family.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her faith kept her strong through her life, which she instilled in her children.  Verna is remembered by her children as a loving and supportive mom; always there when needed.

Verna’s immediate services will be private with Reverend Allan E. Sones officiating.  Private burial in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be held at the family’s convenience.
