Vicki Lee (Rider) Brannen

A Straightforward and Loving Woman -

Vicki Lee (Rider) Brannen, age 67, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 22, 2019, after an extended illness with her son, Michael, by her side.  Vicki was born on Sunday, July 22, 1951 in Mechanicsburg to the late Lester William Rider and Jane Arlene (Gingrich) Brownawell.  Vicki was the widow of Dennis A. Brannen, who died on September 16, 2010.  In addition to her parents and husband, Vicki is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Rider; and her sister, Lauri Crochunis.

Vicki’s survivors include her two sons: Michael C. Meloy of Mechanicsburg, B.J. Donicker and his wife, Krystal, of New Cumberland; her grandson, Dylan M. Meloy; her brother, Terry Rider and his wife, Bernadine, of Carlisle; her sisters, Becki Kraft and her husband, Robert “Mike”, of Dauphin, Carolyn Boose and her husband, Mark, of Spring Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

Vicki was a very loving, yet straightforward and opinionated person.  She was an avid NASCAR fan, who you didn’t call during a race unless it was a real emergency.  Before her illness, she enjoyed cooking and attending family gatherings.  Vicki often had lively conversations with her husband on a wide variety of subjects.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a great pun or prank.  While Vicki rarely attended church, her faith as a Christian remained very strong.  Her love, humor, and direct manner will be missed by all that knew her.

To honor Vicki’s commitment to health and education, her body has been donated to Pennsylvania Humanity Gifts Registry and no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Vicki’s life can be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 1513 Cedar Cliff Drive, Suite 100, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 7000, Albert Lea, MN 56007, www.Lung.org/Donate.

Vicki’s family has entrusted her care to Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Vicki’s full obituary and sign her official guest book at Buhrig.com.
