Truly Loved Her Family -
Vickie Lee (Kiner) Bear, age 69, of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. Vickie was born on Wednesday, May 5, 1948 in Carlisle. She is preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Lorea Howe and Kenneth and Mary Velva (Etter) Kiner; her brother, Barry Howe; and her sister, Donna Swartz.
Vickie’s survivors include her three sons: Todd Bear and his wife, Audrey, of New Bloomfield, Chad Bear of Camp Hill, Neil Bear and his wife, Meghan, of Mechanicsburg; her four grandchildren: Ally Anthony, Ashton Bear, Liam Bear, and Finley Bear; her three siblings: Lucinda Heiser and her husband, Ken, of Mt. Holly Springs, Robyn Arab and her husband, Ali, and their daughter, Alex, of Brentwood, TN, John Swartz of Carlisle; her sister-in-law, Melinda Howe of Carlisle; her very dear friend, A.J. Owzar of Camp Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Vickie graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1966 and from cosmetology school where she achieved her beautician’s license. She was a lifelong and faithful member of Carlisle Church of Christ, where she spent much of her time doing for others in any way she could. Vickie enjoyed volunteering her time with Four Diamonds as often as possible. She liked cooking and working during the Christmas season wrapping presents for many years. Vickie was a fun, loving and wonderful Grammy. Her grandchildren absolutely loved how she acted like a kid with them. Vickie truly loved her family; her happiest times were when everyone was with her.
All are welcome to join Vickie’s family at her visitation on Sunday, December 17, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday, December 18, 2017, for her gathering of family and friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Carlisle Church of Christ, 971 Walnut Bottom Road, Carlisle, PA 17015; with Dave Jester and Gifford Briner officiating. Vickie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food, fellowship, and greeting of guests at her church following the service. Burial will follow in Blain Cemetery. Honored to be pallbearers are: Ali Arab, Chad Bear, John Bear, Neil Bear, Todd Bear, and Ken Heiser.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital who so lovingly cared for Vickie and her family during her illness, especially to Dr. Mark Donowitz for his continued dedication to her recovery.
