Victor Anthony Hart, Jr.
Adored His Family -
Victor Anthony Hart, Jr., age 77, of Mechanicsburg passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Victor was born on Sunday, October 15, 1944, in Middletown, OH to the late Victor Anthony Hart, Sr. and Eva Mae (Baker) Hart. In addition to his parents, Victor is preceded in death by his brother, Terry Hart.
Victor’s survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jessica Ann (Mitchell) Hart; his two children: Laura Ann Hart, M.D. and her partner, Kara McDonald, of Philadelphia; Thomas Chesley Hart, Ph.D. and his partner, Jade Cintron, of Lancaster; his two nieces; his three great nephews; his great niece; and his beloved Yorkshire terrier, Reggie.
Victor had a passion for learning and spent his entire life in the pursuit of knowledge. He graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School as part of the class of 1963 and from George Washington University in 1967 with a degree in History. Victor went on to further his education at the University of the Americas, graduating with his Master’s degree in Anthropology. His teaching career spanned over several decades and states. Victor taught both high school and middle school in Texas, Maryland, and for 19 years, in the West Perry School District. He most enjoyed teaching middle school students because they were old enough for critical thought and still young enough to have some fun. Because of his love of history, Victor was a member of the Perry Historians, Cumberland County Historical Society, and the Historical Society of Perry County, where he served as archaeology director. Victor authored a book entitled “Crossing with the Clarks”, a history of the Clark’s ferry and tavern on the Susquehanna River, and co-authored another book entitled “We Texans”, a look at the history of Texas. Complimenting his love of history was his interest in archaeology. He led several digs in Perry County with his students and participated in digs in both Mexico and Florida. Throughout his life, Victor loved to travel; as a young man, he traveled extensively through Mexico and South America. With Jessica and family, they enjoyed countless travel adventures together. Most of all, Victor loved and adored his family. He was devoted to his family who will always remember his love and support. He will be greatly missed.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the medical staff and professionals at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for providing excellent care and services during this difficult time.
