Virginia Ann (Kendall) Jones
Loved to Bake –
Virginia Ann (Kendall) Jones, age 91, of Mechanicsburg, was reunited with her husband, Ralph, in heaven on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Virginia was born on Monday, January 28, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas, to the late Scott Lowell Kendall and Eula Myrrl (Hudkins) Kendall. Virginia was the widow of Ralph Pearl Jones, Jr., whom she married on March 2, 1947, and who died on May 15, 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia is preceded in death by her two brothers, Jack Kendall and Robert Kendall.
Virginia’s survivors include her daughter: Jennifer “JJ” Jolleen Bain and husband Brian of Keedysville, Maryland; her granddaughter: Samantha Cook and husband Matthew of Reisterstown, Maryland; her three great-grandsons: James, Jesse, and Jonah Cook; and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia graduated from Topeka High School as part of the class of 1947. She was a member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg since 1963, where she was involved in Lutheran Christian Women for many years. Virginia traveled with her husband during the summer to all of the county fairs that featured harness racing, and she worked with him as the race secretary. The York and Bloomsburg Fairs were especially close to their hearts and where they were particularly well known. Virginia enjoyed golfing and cross-stitching many beautiful pieces; but her favorite pastime was baking. She loved to cook and bake for her family, and her family and friends looked forward to receiving the enormous numbers of cookies Virginia gave away at Christmas. Virginia’s family will miss her dearly.
