Wanda Mae (Vogelsong) Bateman

Wanda Mae (Vogelsong) Bateman, age 65, of Mechanicsburg and New Bloomfield, died peacefully and with her family by her side on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Wanda was born on Wednesday, May 7, 1952 in Mechanicsburg to Shirley (McCurdy) Vogelsong and the late Frederick G. Vogelsong, Sr. In addition to her father, Wanda is preceded in death by her former husband, Harry William Eugene Bateman, Jr. who died on April 13, 2014.
Wanda’s survivors include her loving daughter, Kerin Turner and her husband, Brian, of Mechanicsburg; her four grandchildren: Katelyn Mae, Trevor, Evan, and Levi; her mother, Shirley (McCurdy) Vogelsong; her brother, Frederick G. Vogelsong, Jr., and his wife, Kathy; her sister, Lucy (Vogelsong) Harper and her husband, Burt; her nephew, Wil Ege; and her nieces: Heather Bridwell, Holly Newpower, Crystal Ege, and Erin Rusiloski.
Wanda graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1970. In December of 2016 and after over 43 years of service, Wanda retired from Highmark Blue Shield. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a proud and active member of New Bloomfield VFW #7463 Auxiliary. Wanda was well known to be a hard worker who was organized and thorough in any task to which she set herself. She enjoyed being creative, painting and crocheting in her free time. Having a great love of the outdoors, she could frequently be found riding her bike, mowing her yard, planting flowers, and camping. Whether spending time at the beach or the river, or in the mountains in New Bloomfield, Wanda always enjoyed the world around her.
All are welcome to join Wanda’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Saturday, March 17, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Wanda’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the café next to Myers – Buhrig immediately following the service.
