Elizabethtown

William “Bill” Charles Hall, Jr., age 71, of Wellsville and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Bill was born on February 16, 1953, in Harrisburg to William “Bill” Charles Hall and the late Joan Hilda (Williams) Hall of Elizabethtown. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by brother, James Hall.

Bill’s survivors include his wife of nearly 51 years, Deborah “Deb” Suzanne (Neff) Hall along with his three daughters and their spouses, Dianne Elwell and husband, Richard, of Mechanicsburg, Karin Hall of Wellsville, and Jennifer Gutzweiler and husband, Martin, of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving him are three grandchildren, Max, Noah, and Kate; his father, William "Bill" Hall, and his sister, Cynthia Florig and husband, James, of Mechanicsburg, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bill was retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot after nearly 34 years of service. He was a member of Eureka Masonic Lodge #302 of Mechanicsburg. Bill's hobbies included hunting, fishing, photography, boating, and pigeon racing. He was a member of Carlisle Fish & Game and Mechanicsburg Hunting Association, and the Harrisburg and Hanover Pigeon Clubs. Bill was proud to have had a hand in helping to build his dream home. In his later years, Bill could often be found riding one of his tractors and building landscape features on his property, such as a waterfall, several ponds, and rock walls. Some of his most joyful times included teaching his grandchildren to fish in his pond, attending their special events, and watching Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles football games with his father.

Family, friends, and neighbors will be received by Bill’s immediate family on Saturday, January 25, 2025, beginning at 11:30 a.m., at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation).
