William "Bill" Edgar Reinhardt, Jr.

William “Bill” Edgar Reinhardt, Jr., age 96, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Port Washington, NY and Dillsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023.  Bill was born on Wednesday, May 25, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY to the late William Edgar Reinhardt, Sr. and Gertrude Eliza (Carr) Reinhardt.  Bill was the widower of Janet “Jan” Reinhardt, whom he married on October 9, 1954, and who died on August 26, 2023.

Bill is survived by his two sons: William Reinhardt of Chapel Hill, NC and David Reinhardt of Seattle, WA; his two granddaughters: Jennifer Reinhardt of Kansas City, MO and Christine Howieson of Syracuse, NY; and his great-granddaughter, Hannah.

After his discharge from the US Army in 1947, Bill attended Yale University. Upon graduation in the class of 1950, he embarked on a decades-long career in the book publishing industry, working for Doubleday, Random House and others. Bill ultimately retired from the Book-of-the-Month Club in Camp Hill as a senior executive.

Per his specified wishes, Bill will be cremated and there will be no public events.
