A Kind and Giving Man -

William “Bill” Taylor Dull, Jr., age 94, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 8, 2020.  Bill was born on Monday, September 14, 1925 in Mifflintown to the late William Taylor Dull and Mary Edith (Diehl) Dull.  Bill was the widower of Leatrice Mae (Gross) Dull, whom he married on September 20, 1947, and who died on September 14, 1998.  In addition to his parents and wife, Bill is preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Dull; his four brothers: Mervin, Harold, Paul, and Richard; his five sisters: Margretta, Florence, Cavilla, Elvie, and Mary.

Bill’s survivors include his three children: Gary Allen Dull of Camp Hill, Stephanie “Steph” Lea Halderman of Mechanicsburg, and William “Steve” Steven Dull and his wife, Tina, of Mechanicsburg; his seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Lynn Dull; Sharon Louise Fahnestock and her husband, Tim; Chrissy Dull, Rich Carl Dilts; William Christopher Dull and his wife, Krystal; Sean Alexander Reinhardt and his wife, Janelle; and Cameron Isaiah Halderman and his significant other, Tonia Owens; his nine great-grandchildren: Aria Dull, Brayden Reinhardt, Milo Reinhardt, Estella Halderman, Austin Hershey, Amber Wolf, Kayla Broom, Kirsten Wolf, and Vinny Dilts; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline friends: Snooky and Miss Boo.

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. During his time in the Army, Bill enjoyed boxing for recreation. He retired from Masland Carpet and Rugs in Carlisle in 1995, after many years of service working as a mechanic.   Bill’s abilities as a mechanic allowed him to fix almost anything, whether it was his children’s cars or the machines at Masland’s.  He even remodeled the interior of his own home. It was only natural that Bill’s love of fixing cars extended to a love of racing.  He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was a huge fan of Jeff Gordon.  Bill’s expert abilities as a mechanic helped his son Steve win many races on the go cart and micro sprint car tracks of the East Coast, especially at Hunterstown Speedway and Path Valley Speedway.  When he wasn’t at the track or fixing something, he enjoyed watching Westerns on television and playing the harmonica.  Bill’s family will remember him as a kind hearted and giving man, who was happiest when his family had everything they needed.  He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Bill’s family will be celebrating his life privately.  Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.
