William “Bill” Irvin Hinderliter

William “Bill” Irvin Hinderliter, 71, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, after his battle with cancer. He was born December 24, 1939, in Walker Twp., Mifflintown, the son of the late Ray H. and Bertha (Mingle) Hinderliter. Celebrating his memory are: his wife of 50 years, Jane E. (Ort) Hinderliter; five daughters: Cindy Shultz of Middletown, Sandra Woods of Gastonia, NC, Tami Foust of Mechanicsburg, Julie Burner of Mechanicsburg and Patti Espinosa of Camp Hill; 3 grandsons: Richard Foust II; Benjamin and Collin Burner; 3 granddaughters: Paiton, Paige and Petra Espinosa; 2 sisters: Betty Leach of Angola, NY and Peggy Ort of Mechanicsburg; 1 brother: Edward Hinderliter of Pottstown.
Bill graduated from Juniata Joint High School in the class of 1957. He was a Navy Veteran during the Vietnam War and a retired employee of PA RR, Penn Central RR, Conrail & Northfolk Southern RR where he worked for 38 ½ years. Bill was an avid bowler, enjoying membership in many leagues and bowling in many tournaments. He genuinely enjoyed helping others and spending time with friends.
He was a lifetime member of Amvets Post 274, Carlisle; A.L.W.W.I. Memorial Post 109, Mech.; V.F.W. Post 5863, Mifflintown; He also belonged to Carlisle Moose Family Center Lodge # 761; Fraternal Order of Eagles 1299; White Circle Club and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge # 578, all of Carlisle; The Mechanicsburg Club, Mechanicsburg Business Men’s League, Mech.; V.F. W. Post 8851, Boiling Springs and the Retired Eagles Activity Club, Carlisle.
