William “Bill” Linn Shoap, 64, of
Port Orchard, Washington
and formerly of
Hummelstown
and
Camp Hill
died at Hospice Home Care Center in Bremerton, Washington on Friday, April 23, 2010. He was born in Hershey on Monday, October 1, 1945, son of the late William L. Shoap and Florence (Cocklin) Shoap of Hummelstown. Bill was the husband of Pegi Shoap who he married on August 10, 1984.
Bill served in the
US Air Force 377
th
Special Police Squadron’s K-9 Unit
in Vietnam. He was instrumental in getting the Washington State Vietnam War Dog Memorial approved. Bill’s love of dogs lasted a lifetime. He was a kind and compassionate person, always having a kind word for friend and stranger alike. Bill’s sense of humor kept everyone laughing both during his life and after his death. He is deeply loved and missed.
Bill’s survivors include his beloved wife of almost 26 years: Pegi Shoap of Port Orchard, Washington; his loving sister: Beverly Coleman and her husband Richard of Mechanicsburg; his wonderful Aunt: Betty Jane Penny of
Bethany Village
in
Mechanicsburg
; two nephews: Adam Quiggle and his fiance Jenny Guerry of South Carolina, Brent Quiggle and his wife Jocelyn of South Carolina; two great nieces and a great nephew: Bailey and Callie and Brodie Quiggle all of South Carolina.
All are welcome to join Bill’s family, on the two year anniversary of his death, at a Gathering of Family and Friends and his Graveside Service on Monday, April 23, 2012, at 9:30 at the family plot in Hummelstown
Cemetery, Railroad and Lincoln Streets in Hummelstown, with Pastor Alan Echard officiating and where military honors will be presented by
Dauphin County Honor Guard.
Honored to be the urn bearer is Bill’s Aunt, Betty Jane Penny. Cremation was private and at the convenience of the family.
