William “Bill” Joseph Randall
Beloved Brother and Uncle -
William “Bill” Joseph Randall, age 82, of Camp Hill, PA , and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY , died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, August 15, 2015. Bill was born on Tuesday, June 27, 1933 in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Thomas Randall and Barbara C. (Denzlein) Randall. Bill was the widower of Doris Ann (Sheaffer) Randall, to whom he was married for over 48 years, and who died on September 18, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife, Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Pete” Randall, his sister, Barbara Boshart, his nephew, Kevin Gallagher, and his niece, Debbie (Randall) Fikar.
Bill’s survivors include his two sisters: Marie Gallagher of Poughkeepsie, NY, Elizabeth “Betty” J. Seelbach of Staatsburg, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill attended Poughkeepsie High School . He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956. During the Korean War, Bill was stationed on the destroyer, USS Hailey , and he loved attending the reunions of his Navy buddies up until very recently. Bill also served in the U.S. Army for three years and then went to work at IBM, from where he retired after many years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg. Bill enjoyed playing cards, and he and his family loved playing in the pool during their summertime visits. From those visits, Bill’s nieces and nephews warmly remember him as a great and fun uncle.
All are welcome to join Bill’s family at his viewing on Friday, August 21, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and at his Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:15 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church , 410 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend Thomas J. Rozman celebrating. A reception in Brindle Hall will immediately follow the Mass. A committal service with military honors will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church , 410 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
