William “Bill” D. Runkle, 81, of Carlisle and formerly of Camp Hill and Lemoyne died at Carlisle Regional Medical Center on Sunday, February 19, 2012. He was born in Leck Hill, PA on Thursday, July 31, 1930 son of the late Harlan Daniel and Gertrude (Schreffler) Runkle. Bill was the husband of Jeanne Arvelle (Snell) Runkle who he married on December 20, 1947.

Bill attended Lemoyne High School. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Camp Hill for many years. Bill was the owner/operator of Bill Runkle’s Exxon in Harrisburg until he sold the station and retired in the 1970s. He lived to work and loved to keep busy. Among his favorite past times in retirement were wood working, gardening, yard work and helping around the house.

Bill’s survivors include his loving wife of 64 years: Jeanne Arvelle (Snell) Runkle; one daughter: Deborah J. Dumar of Arkansas; two sons: Richard D. Runkle of Dillsburg, Michael E. Runkle of Dallastown; two grandsons; four granddaughters and six great grandchildren. Among those preceding Bill in death are his brother: Glenn M. Runkle.

Bill’s cremation and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
