A Proud Father

William “Bill” C. Wickard, 58, of Mechanicsburg died Thursday, April 28, 2011 at home and surrounded by his loving daughter, mother, brother and other family members after a long, hard fight with cancer. He was born on December 23, 1952 in Harrisburg the son of Shirley (Woltz) Hulse and the late William B. Wickard.

Bill graduated from Palmyra High School as part of the class of 1970. He was a master plumber and founder, owner and operator of W.C. Wickard Plumbing Company. He cherished time on his Harley and Boating in the Chesapeake Bay. His daughter, Kristen, remembers growing up on the boat with her father. He was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a sportsman and proud member of the NRA and a Boy Scout who became an avid outdoorsman . He loved to travel especially to the Bahamas with a few of his favorite friends.

Bill is survived by his loving daughter: Kristen M. Lewis and her husband Andrew of Enola; his mother: Shirley Hulse and her husband Jack of Mechanicsburg; and his brother: Michael P. Wickard of Manchester.

All are welcome to join Bill’s family at his Memorial Service on Saturday, May 7, at 1:00 at Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, 300 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055. The Pastor Myrtle E. McCall and Pastor Kathryn Z. Johnston will officiate and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family would be honored for you to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the church at 1:45.
