Yvonne “Potato” Marie (Groft) Bollendorf

A Selfless, Gentle Spirit -

Yvonne “Potato” Marie (Groft) Bollendorf, age 81, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021.  Yvonne was born on Monday, June 12, 1939, in Columbia to the late Ambrose Edward Groft and Gretna Lillian (Keller) Groft.  Yvonne was the widow of Joseph Matthais Bollendorf, who died on December 19, 1997.  In addition to her parents and husband, Yvonne is preceded in death by her siblings: Gerald Groft, Yvo Groft, and Ellen “Sis” Groft.

Yvonne’s survivors include her three children: Robert “Bob” Joseph Bollendorf of Mt. Holly Springs, Donald David Bollendorf and wife, Doreen, of Dillsburg, Anna Marie Bollendorf and husband, Jeffery Smith, of Mechanicsburg; her four grandchildren: Amanda Starleper, Julia Bollendorf, Rebecca Bollendorf, William Bollendorf; her three great-grandchildren: Skyler, Lillian, and Lucas; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved canine companions: Damnit Heidi Bollendorf and Baron Lucifer Von Chompy.

Yvonne was quite skilled with hand sewing, particularly embroidery.  She loved to go on vacation to the mountains with her husband where they would stay in a cabin in Potter County.  Yvonne was a true animal lover; she was often found reading books about many different living things.  She also enjoyed coloring in her adult coloring books.  Children were drawn to Yvonne because of her gentle spirit and she was always trying to help people. Yvonne loved to spoil her grandchildren; she was the bond that held the family together.

All are welcome to join Yvonne’s family at her in-person viewing on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and virtually beginning at 10:45 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.  Burial will immediately follow the service Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
