Yvonne (Brown) Miller
Yvonne (Brown) Miller, age 95, of Mechanicsburg, died peacefully at Bethany Village, “The Oaks”, after a seven year battle with dementia, Alzheimer type. Yvonne was born on Tuesday, October 31, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Clarence C. and Izetta (Fox) Brown and they lived in Lakewood, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Yvonne is preceded in death by her younger sister, Theresa, who died in 2006.
Following graduation from Lakewood High School in 1939, she attended Virginia Intermont College and Ohio University where she met James Edward Miller, a U.S. Navy Cadet. They were married on April 22, 1944. The family lived in Lakewood, OH; Connecticut; Rochester, NY; Dallas, TX; and moved to Camp Hill, PA in 1955.
Yvonne’s survivors include her loving husband of 73 years, Jim; her daughter, Barbara Bull; her son, James Miller and his wife, Jacque Hansbrough; her five grandchildren: Christine Hilferty, Catherine Bull, Suzanne Bull, Eric Miller, and Andrew Miller; and her two great-grandchildren: Jake and Jordan Hilferty.
For over forty years, Yvonne was a noted historian, collector, author, and instructor of early American Arts including rug hooking, doll making, miniatures, and needlework through her affiliation with Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts.
All are welcome to join Yvonne’s family at her memorial service on Saturday, January 13, 2018, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Rife Center at Bethany Village, 325 Wesley Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Rev. Dr. Brand W. Eaton officiating. Yvonne’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship immediately following her service. Cremation followed by interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA was private.
