Michael “Mike” "Popsie" William Weaver

Michael “Mike” “Popsie” William Weaver, age 67, of Harrisburg, and formerly of Camp Hill, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2022.  Michael was born on Sunday, October 17, 1954, in Harrisburg to the late Russell Kenneth Weaver and Lois Evalyn (Swavely) Weaver.  Mike was the widower of Mary Louise (Bigelow) Henderson, whom he married on June 22, 1997, and who died on August 22, 2021.  In addition to his parents and wife, Mike is preceded in death by his brother, R. David Weaver.

Mike’s survivors include his five children: Stacey Lynn Bluett and her husband, Dave, of York; Douglas “Doug” Dalby Henderson of York; Kenneth “Kenny” Michael Weaver of Akron; Jeffrey “Jeff” Bartlett Henderson of Harrisburg; Daniel “Dan” Prescott Weaver and his wife, Rebecca, of Somerset; his five grandchildren: David Michael Bluett, Jonathan Edward Bluett, Maddox Anthony Weaver, Crosby Havoc Weaver, Bennett Avery Weaver; his three siblings: Henry “Hank” Weaver and his wife, Margaret “Peggy”, of Harrisburg; Lois “Sue” Lagana and her husband, Donald “Donnie”, of Chesapeake, VA; Judy Neumayer and her husband, David “Dave”, of Enola; several nieces and nephews; his two beloved canine companions: Sophie and Maggie; and his two beloved feline companions: Bear and Annie.

Mike graduated from Camp Hill High School as part of the class of 1973. He served in the United States Air Force after high school and was stationed at the Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Senior Airman in 1977. He earned his Associate of Applied Sciences, Architectural Technology Degree from Harrisburg Area Community College in 1992.

Throughout his life, Mike had varied careers. He worked for several years as a carpenter and contractor with Hakes’ Homes. Through his entrepreneurial spirit, he also founded several businesses, including Weaver and Henderson Publishing and ran his own food truck. He was also the Mayor of Shiremanstown and was the author of multiple books.

Mike’s passions included many hobbies and activities. He explored the arts through the design and creation of pysanky eggs. Mike was also a diehard fan of the Philadelphia Phillies his entire life, with the Phillies current playoff run being something for him to look forward to through his final days. He also proudly served as the Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 52 for a number of years. Ever the historical mind, Mike helped to get a Pennsylvania Historical Marker placed at the John Rupp House in Mechanicsburg, was a Civil War Re-enactor with Thompson’s Independent Battery C, PA Volunteers, and, along with his wife Mary, helped to establish the Shiremanstown Historical Society.  Mike was a member of Road to Emmaus Presbyterian Church at 5050 Linglestown Road in Harrisburg where he was active in bible studies.

Mike passionately loved his family and was, above all else, a loving, dedicated, and supportive husband and father. Mike remained involved with his children; he enjoyed coaching and watching them and his grandchildren play sports.

All are welcome to join Mike’s family at his visitation on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service beginning at 11:30 a.m. all at Road to Emmaus Church, 5050 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112; with Reverend Wayne Lowe officiating.  Mike’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church immediately following the service.  Military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard at 3:15 p.m. in Shiremanstown Memorial Park.  Interment will follow the military honors in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg at 4:00 p.m.  Cremation was private.
