Shirley (Spahr) Murphy

Shirley (Spahr) Murphy, age 85, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Shiremanstown, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021.  Shirley was born on Wednesday, February 6, 1935, in Mechanicsburg to the late Carl E. Spahr and Sarah (Miller) Spahr. Shirley is preceded in death by her son Danny Murphy, daughter Sharon Murphy, and brothers Carl E. Spahr Jr. and Lloyd M. Spahr.

Shirley’s survivors include; her son Michael Eugene Murphy and wife, Nancy, of Smithfield, VA; her two grandchildren: Arleigh K. Murphy, Connor M. Murphy and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1953. She retired from the PA State Government, where she worked as a secretary.  Shirley was a longtime member of Immanuel Christian Alliance.  Shirley loved to paint, especially landscapes in oil.  She enjoyed cross stitch and reading her bible.

All are welcome to join Shirley’s family at her gathering of friends and family on Thursday, February 4, 2021, from 2:30 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Steve Wiggins officiating.  Private burial at the convenience of the family will be in the Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
